Kathryn M. Ireland’s Santa Monica Bohemian Decor Mansion – Known for her stunning design projects and incredible fabric collections, Kathryn M. Ireland gained worldwide celebrity status due to her appearance on the hit tv show “Million Dollar Decorators” of BravoTV. In 2017 she bought actor’s Tobey Maguire mansion in Santa Monica for a whopping $3,325,000! She rapidly transformed the stunning Mansion into a haven of luxury design that fully embodies her elegant style and character. After she completed the renovation of her new house, Ireland invited Elle Decor to participate in a tour of this mansion and the result is stunning! Let’s see the house:
As you know, this British-born designer of textiles and interiors is known for her boho spirit and exuberant use of color. For that reason, she has warmed up the 1920s Spanish main house and made it feel more cohesive with the property’s two other structures: a guest cottage and a modern back studio.
But first, let’s start with the outside area. The Mansion is surrounded by a stunning garden inspired by a Moroccan style. The centerpiece is a small pool that was added by architect Ruben S. Ojeda to the original design.
In the interior décor of the house, Ireland used a mishmash of her brand’s signature textiles all around the main rooms of the house. She also mixed those fabrics with stunning rugs, amazing antiques and stunning pieces of artwork.
In the living room, a 19th-century Uzbek textile hangs over the red linen-velvet sofa as a symbol of Ireland’s design empire. This room serves as the centerpiece of the Mansion and follows a rustic design with elegant fabrics and some rustic style furniture that includes 17th-century French chairs, an 18th-century Mexican console, and a cocktail table from her furniture line.
For her master bedroom, Ireland designed the stunning hand hammered–iron canopy bed and the elegant sofa. She completed the décor with an African cocktail table, and some bed-curtains made with her brand fabrics. The room is completed by a powder room that is covered in a pale paisley wallpaper.
The master bathroom, which sports a contemporary look with its quartz floors and modern glass shower, is simple but elegant. It fully matches the bohemian and minimalistic style of the Powder Room, serving as a continuity of that décor style.
In her son’s bedroom, we can find some luxury Indian blankets from the Santa Monica flea market that reflect Ireland’s lifelong love of needlework. The bedroom is also headlined by a stunning Barley Twist inspired bed and a simple wicker chair.
All in all, Ireland managed to transform a heavy investment in a luxury home that currently could worth a lot more than what she originally paid Tobey Maguire. That’s the classic magic of Miss Ireland’s immense talent.
