So today, Celebrity Homes will talk about one of the most famous gangsters ever known — Al Capone. His luxury mansion in Miami is for sale.

Being one of the most infamous persons on 20th century, he constructs an Imperium during the great depression by smuggling liquor and other dark businesses. And his luxury home is the result of this dark life. However, Miami is known to have the most luxury and wonderful celebrity homes, by the side of the most expensive sold homes. And Al Capone’s home isn’t an exception, staying in the real estate market for $8.5 millions.

Bought the mansion designed by architect Clarence Busch (of the Anheuser-Busch dynasty), in the 1920′s for $40 millions, this home have 10,000 square-foot, 7-bedroom estate sits on the exclusive Palm Island and consists of one of the largest properties in Los Angeles. He added a guest-house, a cabana and a 30-by-60 foot swimming pool. And includes a main house and a private beach.

Even before listing the home, the owners hired architect Luis Pons to restore it to its mob-era glory, in June 2013 for $7.43 million, without lost the Art Deco split-reed lounge chairs were typical of the 1920s. They haven’t done anything more elaborate with the interiors, but after looking at the listing photos, it’s hard to imagine what else the house really needs.

Al Capone allegedly planned the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre from its very luxury mansion, spent his last days slowly wasting away with debilitating syphilis here, and finally, as his very own niece and biggest advocate says “dropped dead” in one of its upstairs bathrooms. On January 25, 1947 Al Capone died in this home surrounded by his family suffering a fatal cardiac arrest, with only 48 years-old.
