“It’s a humongous house,” Aoki acknowledges of the desert property he got at auction. “I have a great chef that comes in. He cooks up a mean meal. That’s the extent of it,” laughs Aoki. “I’m not much of a cook. But I have a nice kitchen, it’s really beautiful.”
“The color palette’s very gray and white. Very modern. But each room has its own character and personality,” says the musician. “A lot of these ideas, I think about them, and then I tell my general contractor, who gets another contractor to help build out my vision,” explains Aoki. “My prize possession is this Banksy 3-D sculpture. It’s Mickey Mouse being swallowed by a snake. That sits on my main floor. It’s a really cool piece. It’s from his ‘Dismaland’ exhibit,” says Aoki.
Even though the house came with a pool, the location and the depth didn’t satisfy the musician, and therefore he moved it closer to the house. It now sports his logo. “I just put millions upon millions into the house over the course of a couple years,” he admits.
“I also have a wall mural by Neck Face, one of my favorite L.A. street artists. He’s not one to do pieces for many people, but I’ve known him for a long time, for a decade, and he came out to Vegas and did a 20-foot mural inside Aoki’s Playhouse, the trampoline room,” explains Aoki. “That room is pretty epic as well. We built a supertramp and a foam pit and a rope swing.”
