Celebrity News: Obama’s Family Vacations on British Virgin Islands – While all of us here in the United States of America are watching the first days of President Donald Trump’s administration unfold, the recently retired President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle were on a tropical island getaway, which is right where they should be after eight years in the White House.
People reports that after spending the weekend in Palm Springs, California, the former president and first lady arrived in the British Virigin Islands on Sir Richard Branson’s private jet and headed straight for the Virgin Group founder’s private island resort, Necker Island by motorcade.

Naturally, the Obamas are vacationing in style. According to the Virgin Islands Daily News, Necker Island features 74-acres of tropical splendor and hosts up to 30 guests at a time. Other famous visitors include Mariah Carey, Princess Diana, Kate Winslet, Nelson Mandela, and Kate Moss, though being a celebrity is no requirement. Anyone is free to book a stay at the luxurious resort—but it’ll cost you upwards of $4,000 a night.
Visitors to the island can stay in Balinese-style, seaside villas and expect to be waited on by a staff of 100. Activities offered include myriad water and land sports, a full spa, daytime excursions to surrounding waters and islands and themed nightlife.
