When you are trendsetter a standard mansion is just not good enough. But when you are Pharrell Williams nothing short of an architectural icon will make the grade.
The Grammy winner dropped $7.14 million on a sleek and ultra stylish compound high above the Sunset Strip in the historically musical area of Laurel Canyon of Hollywood Hills.
It is often joked that Pharrell is an alien thanks to his ability to avoid aging and now he certainly has his space ship in the home called the Skyline Residence, which is filled with futuristic qualities in its steel, concert and glass construction and design elements such as a folded roof. The often celebrated property is in fact two buildings with a main four to five bedroom open plan house and a two story one bedroom guest house.
The gated computed is set on top of 1.5 acres high in the hills that allow for views from every room as well as the numerous outdoor entertainment and viewing platforms. In the day Pharrell can survey the whole of the northern part of Los Angeles while at night he is offered a visual feast of twinkling city lights.
Also fitting with Pharrell’s focus on eco-friendly design, the house not only embraces the natural environment and views – despite its futuristic appearance – and also was created with an attempt at sustainability using locally-sourced building materials. Thanks to its hilltop position the home also uses solar energy.
While it is hard to pick one aspect of the house that is its best feature, it does rely on it its stunning location to help it shine as it is designed with sliding doors and floor to cleaning class panels everywhere to ensure there are stunning views from every room and the outside area becomes an extension of the living space.

This includes multiple outdoor lounges and dining areas which vary from a traditional BBQ area to poolside lounging and one of its most unique features – an outdoor viewing area. Pharrell and his guests can watch music clips, fashion shows and films from atop the motor court with a projector available to show up the large videos onto the guest house.
The infinity pool also makes for a special sight, running along the length of the home it has uninterrupted views across the city. But inside it also shines with a large central step down lounge area with city, sky and canyon views through its giant glass windows, which allows the wild hill landscape to contrast with the sleek polished concrete and tile floors.
The living room area also features a hanging space age fireplace for Pharrell and his loved ones to gather round. Off the lounge is the kitchen which takes minimalist chic to a new level with dark cabinets fashioned into a wall with a double oven incorporated into it across from a giant white island with a massive hot plate so guests can watching on as if at Benihana.
From the kitchen is a separate, but not closed off, dining room that overlooks the pool and has a big built in television. After a big day of watching movies, cocking and just generally appreciating the view, Pharrell can retire to the master bedroom suite which features a fireplace, sitting area, television and sliding doors – that appear to terrifyingly and beautifully open up to nothing but a canyon view.
His guests do not have to feel like they are left out with a number of bedrooms enjoying direct access to the infinity pool. And for those really special – or annoying – guests there is also the guest house which is completely separate has its own kitchenette, bathroom and bedroom.
Now is easy to understand why is Pharrell so Happy 🙂
