Philippe Nigro | Best Interior Designers from France – Les Nécessaires d’Hermès Collection Designed By Philippe Nigro – French designer Phillipe Nigro went straight to the Hermès archives when the luxury brand enlisted him to design a furniture collection. After sourcing elegant materials like Canaletto walnut, brushed stainless steel, caramel leather, and original Hermès textiles, Nigro set to work on creating 8 pieces for home interiors.
His Les Nécessaires d’Hermès collection continues the Parisian house’s legacy of producing simple, meticulously crafted goods and accessories, yet exudes a distinctly modern sensibility. Each item is designed to serve several functions, and many contain deftly concealed compartments and fixtures.
“An object can have one function that makes the item more interesting to the user, “ “The main idea behind the collection was to include in the objects an element of surprise”. Nigro says.
With a nod to Hermès’s 19th-century beginnings as the definitive producer of fine equestrian goods, a bench suggests a pommel horse, incorporating Canaletto walnut wood drawers with essential bull calf leather. For more information, visit Phillipe Nigro or Hermès
