Celebrity Homes: Spend Your Summer at Julia Child’s Holiday Retreat – This charming Provençal cottage was once Julia Child’s holiday retreat. Here she entertained other culinary greats, including James Beard and M. F. K. Fisher. Known as La Pitchoune, the house was built in 1963 on grounds that belonged to Child’s best friend and coauthor of Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Simone Beck, and her husband, Jean Fischbacher.
The property is located on a hillside in the small village of Plascassier, 30 minutes from Cannes and the Côte d’Azur and 40 minutes from the Nice airport. And now, you can rent a piece of history—Julia Child’s Provence home is available through Airbnb, according to Variety. For $700 a night, you can call the late famous chef’s home yours without the commitment.

The picturesque property includes a swimming pool and a separate studio with a living room, bedroom, kitchenette, and bath. The cozy interior has an open living-dining room with a wood-burning fireplace and three bedrooms, each with an en suite bath. The heart of the house is the kitchen, which was designed by Child’s husband, Paul, and modeled after the kitchen in their Cambridge, Massachusetts, home. Extra-tall counters were built to accommodate Child’s six-foot-two-inch frame, and her original kitchen tools still hang on pegboard walls.
