If Jennifer Aniston weren’t an actress, she might have been an interior designer. “I love the process,” she tells AD in the March issue. “There’s something about picking out fabrics and finishes that feeds my soul.” Despite her love of design, the midcentury Los Angeles house that Aniston shares with her husband, Justin Theroux, and their trio of dogs was not entirely of her own creation: She happily shares the credit for the home’s expertly layered interiors—a decor style she calls “Old World meets New World”—with AD100 interior designer Stephen Shadley, L.A. designers Kathleen and Tommy Clements, and Jane Hallworth. Theroux chipped in as well, but for Aniston, learning how to combine her vision with another person’s—one who is not a trained designer, that is—was a new experience.

“Justin definitely wanted to be involved, so there was a bit of a learning curve for me on how to include another voice in the design process,” Jennifer Aniston explains. One tip she shared on creating a more synergetic decorating process for the couple: “For instance, I figured out that immediately saying ‘No!’ to any suggestion is not the most collaborative move.”

The home, which was the location of the couple’s 2015 nuptials, features a mix of hand-painted wallpaper and midcentury furniture, silk rugs and polished concrete, photo-booth snaps and paintings of the pets, antique Japanese screens, and Theroux’s motorcycles.
