What Do You Think About White House Holiday Decorations? – According to a press release issued by the White House, First Lady Melania Trump chose “Time-Honored Traditions” as this year’s theme, and on Monday, unveiled the decorations she has reportedly been planning since July.

More than 150 volunteers spent over 1,600 hours decorating.
As is tradition, volunteers from the Washington D.C. area helped cover the White House in tinsel and holly. This year, more than 150 volunteers spent around 1,600 hours decorating the residence. In the East Wing, a Gold Star Family Tree has been decorated with gold stars and patriotic ribbon in tribute to military families, where visitors can pen messages on digital tablets to their loved ones who are on duty.
In the China Room, a table is set using the china from President Ronald Reagan’s era, while President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 1866 edition of A Christmas Carol is on display in the library. The Grand Foyer and Cross Hall recreate the “Nutcracker Suite,” which served as the White House’s first-ever official Christmas decor theme in 1961.
Visitors with a sweet tooth should pay attention to the Red Room, which is filled with peppermints, candy, and cookies, as well as the State Dining Room, which holds the traditional gingerbread house. According to Stephanie Grisham, East Wing communications director, who tweeted out pictures and information about the White House holiday decorations, this year’s gingerbread house was baked with 300 pounds of dough and features Mrs. Trump’s “signature wreaths.”
