Inside Celebrity Homes: Jaw Dropping Dr. Dre Home – With the Pacific Ocean on one side and Laurel Canyon on the other, Dr. Dre’s new dream home is located on a 4-acre estate in one of Los Angeles’s most affluent neighborhoods. According to the Westside Estate Agency, the property is “the best view estate in the city.” Designed to look like an Old World French mansion, the house is built largely out of reclaimed and antique materials. Its amenities include an infinity pool, a poolside cabana, a moat, a library, an outdoor bath, indoor and outdoor kitchens, a gym, and multiple fireplaces.
Dr. Dre bought the house from Brazilian actress, producer, and supermodel Gisele Bündchen and her husband, former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Bündchen and Brady bought the land for $11.75 million in 2009, and built Dr. Dre’s House on it from the ground up. They listed the estate for $50 million, but reportedly sold it to Dr. Dre for $10 million less, in part because he offered them a deal so soon after they put the house on the market.

Andre Young’s musical career began in the 1980s with his involvement with World Class Wreckin’ Cru, an “electro” band credited with helping create hip hop as a genre. He worked as a DJ, gaining the nickname “Dr. J,” which he later changed to “Dr. Dre.” He rose to prominence after joining N.A.W., one of the most prominent Hip Hop groups of the late ’80s. He has since released two solo albums, created a new brand of headphones, and founded the record label Aftermath Entertainment.
The Hip Hop pioneer bought his new house only days after selling his headphone company Beats Electronic to Apple for $3 billion. Upon buying the new house, Dr. Dre promptly sold his old one, earning $35 million for the 10,000 square-foot Oriole Way estate, which he had purchased for only $15 million in 2011. According to Forbes, the profits from these sales increased his net worth to $550 million dollars, making him the second wealthiest Hip Hop artist in the United States.
