The five-story townhouse at 19 West 12th Street was built in the Late Greek Revival style in 1845, and boasts 6,585 square feet, 15 rooms and a lovely sun-filled garden level (a rarity in Manhattan). That’s when you know this is the type of home that belonged to the likes of someone special — in this case, Meryl Streep.
Three-time Academy Award winner Streep owned the home from 2004, when she bought it for $9 million, until she sold it ten years later for $9.1 million, according to Luxury Listings NYC. Around that time, Streep purchased a penthouse in Tribeca for $9 million.
Now, her former Greenwich Village home is back on the market, but for a higher asking price this time — $28.5 million, to be exact. The home features snazzy little things like six fireplaces, a spacious dressing room with skylight, a basement that can be used as a wine cellar and a tremendous kitchen outfitted for a professional chef.
