Celebrity Homes: Buy Frank Underwood’s House – Calling all House of Cards fans! The current owners of the real-life home of the Netflix show’s famous couple—the Underwoods—are putting their house up for auction on July 27 for a modest starting price of $500,000. According to a recent listing on Alex Cooper Inc., the 4,600-square-foot, 140-year-old redbrick Victorian town house will be up for grabs for anyone looking to own a piece of television history next month, with the current owners packing their bags and heading to—of all places—Frank Underwood’s home state of South Carolina.
While Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright didn’t actually film inside the the four-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom house, the exterior was used as the town house for their home before they moved into the White House. Additionally, the layout of the house was the inspiration for the set, and is therefore a familiar sight to House of Cards fans. But what is perhaps lesser known is the history of the house, which was purchased for $85,000 in 1995 by Jeffrey and Norma Epstein, who spent the next several years converting the three-unit apartment building into a single-family home.
The house, which sits in the Bolton Hill neighborhood of Baltimore, features 12-foot ceilings, six fireplaces, dual staircases, a breakfast room with a rear patio, a rooftop deck, and a two-car garage. Part of the Epsteins’ renovations also made way for a master suite that spans the entire third floor, including a private office with a skylight, a large dressing room, a laundry closet, and a spa bath with a large jetted tub and walk-in shower. Framed portraits of Frank and Claire Underwood, however, will not be included.
