Al Khawaneej Villa by K.art Group

Labelled as “one of the best places to live”, the Khawaneej area of Dubai is especially loved amongst Emirati’s. The area comprises many residential properties that consist of sprawling villas and farms that feature traditional Arab elements. The homes have vast courtyards and expansive manicured gardens, majlis areas and quite often swimming pools and gymnasiums.

K.art Group’s project at Al Khawaneej 3 was to provide Feng Shui and interior design consultation for an extensive 32,000 square foot family villa. The home is a contemporary interpretation of a Moorish style palace that embodies glorious archways, spectacular courtyards, intricate decorative tile work and geometrically carved mashrabiya.

Under Mustafa Khamash’s guidance, the interior design team effortlessly transformed the family’s living room, kitchen and the formal dining room, men’s and ladies majlis’, offices, indoor pool, gymnasium, massage room, chill-out area, master bedroom, three further bedrooms, dressing rooms and bathrooms.

The single-storey villa provides a contemporary canvas for opulent details, creating an inviting, warm and comfortable living space. Each of the large rooms has been gently transformed with the clean-lined boiserie mouldings and inset mashrabiya that enhance various exciting art pieces, cultural traditions and detailed architectural elements. Beautiful sensual curves are apparent in the men’s majlis.

The entire palace is formal yet inviting. The bright interiors allow the natural warm desert light to bounce effortlessly throughout. All soft furnishings are upholstered with rich beige fabrics and enhanced with dramatic colour accents in the cushions and detail decorations. K.art Group has discreetly used soft golden brass embellishments in the fixtures that enrich the warm walnut wood veneered furniture.

The ‘chill-out’ area is relaxed and provides a social setting with low seating that sits comfortably under a rustic barn-style beamed ceiling. The setting pays respectful homage to the traditional local farms that once stood in Al Khawaneej. The open-air style and plentiful water features afford a pleasant cooling effect on the palace.

Each of the bedrooms surrounds the authentic riad courtyard which affords them privacy and tranquillity.

Ministry of Cabinet Affairs Office in Dubai

Level 37, Emirates Towers is home to the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs Office in Dubai. The twin towers impressively take command of the city’s central business and commercial district and soar 350 metres above the gloriously landscaped gardens, lakes and waterfalls. Since construction, the towers have become icons in the impressive cityscape. The building’s architecture boasts equilateral triangles throughout, the points of which represent the sun, earth and moon, which are prevalent in Islamic design.

The UAE government-commissioned K.art Group to redesign the upscale offices of the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs. The complex brief included considering the positive energies associated with Feng Shui and incorporating biophilic design to promote the employees’ health, well-being, and productivity. K.artGroup was also challenged to visually showcase the elaborate architectural revolution while respecting ancient cultural heritage. Dubai is a world leader in the hospitality sector and has changed the face of the industry globally.

The office is responsible for supporting the government offices and the UAE’s constitution. Under Mustafa Khamash his creative direction K.art Group created a unique working environment that reflected this importance. Designers have playfully melded industrial styled metal grids, exposed industrial lighting and ceiling fixtures, concrete building structures and weathered wood with luxurious marble and multicoloured accents within the workspace.

Bravely honouring the historical pearl diving industry, the gallery lounge boasts an oversized installation of cocooned areas crafted from coarse marine ropes. The dyyeen inspires the informal seating space; a pearl diver’s bag in which they collect undersea treasures is woven from elaborately twisted natural jute netting. This practical element seamlessly connects the past to the present.

A naturally preserved tree represents the continuum of past and future connections by grounding its roots as an anchor for the country’s boundless development and growth. The clear, mirrored pools in which it stands creates an infinite reflection. Biophilic nuances continue throughout the offices with a carefully curated collection of exotic plants, colourful modular wall plant pots and organic strawberry shoots that increase energy flow.

Dubai’s patriarchy figures and emblematic symbols proudly adorn the walls of the 37th floor. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s profile is a creative abstract portrait installation of gradient taupe colours designed to be visible from various angles.

The executive wing and majlis lounges are designed with luxury in mind. Opulent marble is combined with polished natural wood. The colour scheme notes the United Arab Emirates’natural hues and nods to the cultural heritage that is so closely revered. In contrast, the staff areas are bursting with eccentric accent colours that inspire creativity. There are areas to relax and breakout rooms that are dedicated to enthusiastic brainstorming.
